Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)

Since their release, OCI's Ampere A1 and A2 Standard compute, powered by Ampere® Altra® and AmpereOne® processors, have offered a compelling foundation with predictable performance, near-linear scaling, secure architecture, and strong price-performance. Both platforms rapidly demonstrated ecosystem maturity and robustness, with hundreds of Docker containers and images supported and optimized by customers spanning many industries and diverse workloads, from web servers to open-source databases, data analytics, AI inference and more.

The latest OCI Ampere A4 Standard instances, featuring AmpereOne® M processors, are now available. They are specifically engineered to scale performance efficiently for the most demanding enterprise cloud infrastructure. A4 Standard targets AI inference and cloud-native applications at scale, delivering purpose-built cloud compute that uniquely combines superior performance, energy efficiency, and cost-optimized operation. This design effectively resolves the inherent tension between scaling advanced workloads and maintaining operational budgets.

Additionally, OCI Ampere A4 is purpose-built for small and mid-sized LLM deployments, delivering improvements in Time-To-First Token (TTFT) and Tokens-Per-Second (TPS) metrics that drive real customer value. Its expanded memory bandwidth eliminates data movement bottlenecks that typically constrain modern AI workloads. By offering a cost-effective CPU-based alternative to expensive, power-hungry GPU solutions, A4 Standard enables customers to scale inference workloads profitably without the rigid, all-or-nothing cost structure of GPU based deployments.


OCI provides easy access to this infrastructure through the following programs:

  • Free Tier Program: Allows prospective customers to prototype, test, and try out the A1 and A2 platforms before committing to a purchase.
  • Always Free Tier: Offers shapes with 4 cores and 24GB of memory at no cost, making it easy to integrate small shapes without additional expenses (A1 only).
  • Arm Accelerator Program: Provides credits for up to a year, enabling in-depth exploration of the unique infrastructure (A1 only).
