Renee J. James

Founder/Chairman and CEO

Renee James founded Ampere® Computing in 2017 where she is currently the Chairman and CEO. Ampere produces high performance microprocessors for cloud and edge computing. Renee had a lengthy career with Intel Corporation where she was the President of the company until her departure in 2016. Throughout her 28-year tenure with Intel, she led research and development, held several general management positions and led the global manufacturing organization. In 2019, James was on the Fast Company list of 100 Most Creative People in Business. She also serves as a member of the Board of Directors for Citigroup, Vodafone and Sabre and is an Operating Executive with the Carlyle Group.

Todd Underwood

CFO

Todd has held numerous finance leadership positions over his 28-year career. Prior to Ampere, he served as corporate vice president and chief financial officer for the Client Computing Group at Intel.  Prior to that he served as vice president and interim chief financial officer of Intel with responsibility for leading the company’s global finance organization including accounting and reporting, internal audit, investor relations, operations finance, treasury, and tax.  He also held leadership positions at Intel serving as vice president of finance for Corporate Planning and Reporting, vice president of finance for Mobile & Communications Group, director of finance for Intel Capital M&A and Equity Investments and controller for the Enterprise Server Group.

Todd holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Oregon and an MBA from University of Portland.

Atiq Bajwa

CTO and Chief Architect

Atiq is a seasoned technologist with over 30 years of technical leadership experience in product R&D. Prior to joining Ampere, Atiq was VP and GM of product architecture at Intel, where he led the architectural definition and development of Intel’s computing products for the data center, PC, workstation and ultramobile markets. Over the course of an extensive career at Intel, he contributed in a number of technical and leadership roles in architecture, design and software development; served as GM of Intel’s cable networking operation; and led the acquisition and integration of a large public company. Before joining Intel, Atiq was a member of the team that developed the 32000 family of microprocessors at National Semiconductor.

Atiq received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering from Yale University. He holds 6 US patents in computer architecture and was awarded an Intel Achievement Award for pioneering work on the Pentium Pro processor.

Rohit Vidwans

Chief Engineering & Manufacturing Officer

Rohit brings over 25 years of experience from Intel where he developed microprocessors, graphics, media and supercomputing processors and platforms, and holds 8 microprocessor design patents. Notable projects that he worked on or led include Intels first 8 and 10 core XeonTM microprocessors for data center and enterprise servers and IntelsTM first multi-core phone and tablet SOCs based on the ATOMTM core. He led silicon and platform development teams across the world, bringing products successfully to market. He was appointed a vice president in 2013. Rohit has a MSCE from the University of Texas at Austin and a BSCE from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.

Jeff Wittich

Chief Product Officer

Jeff Wittich is the chief product officer at Ampere. Jeff has extensive leadership experience in the semiconductor industry in roles ranging from product and process development to business strategy to marketing. Prior to joining Ampere, he worked at Intel for 15 years in a variety of positions throughout the company. Most recently, he was responsible for the Cloud Service Provider Platform business, driving global market reach, product customization, and ultimately defining the products and platforms being used across the cloud worldwide. While at Intel, Jeff also led a product development team responsible for 5 generations of Xeon processors. He received an Intel Achievement Award for his work in developing the Custom CPU program.

 

Jeff has an MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame.

Kit Ho Chee

Chief Revenue Officer

Kit is the Chief Revenue Officer at Ampere, responsible for all revenue-generating activities at Ampere, including business development, sales, pricing and business management, customer support and corporate marketing.  He brings 30 years of experience in semiconductors, holding several leadership roles at Intel, most recently as vice president of sales and marketing and general manager for Cloud, Enterprise and HPC sales.  Prior to his global role, Kit was based in China for over a decade leading strategy, product enablement, business operations, and business development for China.  He also previously served as group controller focused on emerging markets and the channel business, as well as APAC regional controller, responsible for all aspects of Asia Pacific operations and finance. 

 

Kit has a Bachelors in Financial Administration from the University of New England, Australia.

Matt Taylor

SVP Worldwide Sales and Business Development

Matt is the senior vice president of Worldwide Sales and Business Development at Ampere. Matt has 20 years of sales and business development experience in the data center and semiconductor industry. Prior to joining Ampere, Matt was the VP of Sales and Business Development for the Qualcomm Datacenter group, where he was responsible for Qualcomm’s first Cloud, OEM, and ODM design wins and revenue shipments of the Centriq platform. Prior to Qualcomm, Matt was with Intel for 15 years, where he held a variety of Sales, Marketing and Business Development leadership roles. Most notably Matt led Intel’s sales campaign for Cisco’s datacenter portfolio and then went on to develop and lead the Worldwide Amazon account team, growing Amazon into a multi billion dollar account for Intel.

Matt earned a Bachelor of Science from University of San Diego and an International MBA from the South Carolina Moore School of Business.

Ben Lenhart

General Counsel

Ben is the general counsel at Ampere. He joined Ampere from Tonkon Torp LLP where he was a partner focusing on mergers and acquisitions, general business, corporate and securities law matters, and commercial finance transactions. Prior to joining Tonkon Torp, he spent 20 years as an attorney with Lane Powell PC.

Since 2008, Ben has been recognized in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for his skill in corporate matters relating to securities, M&A and commercial finance.

Melissa Moore

Vice President of People & Culture

Melissa Moore is a People & Culture leader that thrives in fast-paced entrepreneurial environments. She has extensive experience in developing People and HR strategies and operations for global organizations. Most recently Melissa led HR for one of the fastest growing and most awarded technology startups in Melbourne, Australia, Outware Mobile. Prior to that, she spent nine years in the game industry as an HR director for Ubisoft.

 

Melissa has an MBA from the University of San Francisco and a BA in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley.

Mauri Whalen

Vice President Software Engineering

Mauri Whalen is vice president of software engineering at Ampere.  Her team leads and delivers software for tools/compilers, BIOS/UEFI, OS, hypervisors, middleware, application development and optimization for the Ampere® eMAG platform. She also drives the developer program which allows developers to create and innovate on Ampere’s hardware platform.

Prior to joining Ampere, she spent more than a decade in Intel’s Open Source Technology Center.  Her most recent position was vice president of a core system development team, where she led efforts in open source software development across a range of technologies and market segments, including enterprise Linux, leadership in the Linux ecosystem, client Linux programs and related technologies.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems from the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

Betsey Signol

Vice President of Global Marketing

Betsey is the vice president of global marketing. She has over 20 years of sales and marketing experience with a broad range of technology companies from startups to Fortune 500, in the US and Europe. Prior to joining Ampere, she drove marketing strategy at Intel, responsible for new business initiatives including tablets, Smart TVs and IoT.  Betsey also held leadership roles at Adobe, Autodesk and Macromedia. She had her own consulting business for over a decade, advising clients such as Sun, Dell and SGI and multiple start-ups on marketing communications and channel programs. Betsey began her career at Apple, serving in a broad range of sales and marketing roles.

Sean Mirkes

Vice President of Logic Development

Sean brings 21 years of experience in designing high performance microprocessors to Ampere.  Prior to joining Ampere, he was a senior principal engineer at Intel, where he led the design team for an advanced core design.  Holding 10 patents, his design leadership has spanned multiple generations of Intel™ Pentium 4 and Core™ microprocessor designs, with major contributions to microarchitecture, logic design, circuit design and design efficiency.

Sean has a BS in Computer Engineering from the University of Washington.

Mitrajit Chatterjee

Vice President of Silicon Engineering

Mitrajit brings 23 years of chip design, high performance microprocessor implementation and silicon characterization experience to Ampere. Prior to joining, he was an engineering director at Applied Micro, where he led the design of multiple generations of Arm server processors. Prior to that, he built and led design teams at IDT, Montalvo Systems, Sun Microsystems and Veloce Technologies. He holds seven patents and multiple technical publications in the areas of high-speed design, design automation, design-for-test, and power optimization.

Mitrajit has a Bachelor of Technology in Electronics from I.I.T. Kharagpur, India, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Texas A&M University.

Stephan Jourdan

Ampere Fellow

Stephan brings a wealth of experience in CPU, SoC and system architecture to Ampere.  Prior to Ampere, he spent 21 years in product architecture at Intel, where he held a variety of technology and management roles including CPU core architect, chief architect of Intel’s PC client and mobile device SOCs, and most recently he was an Intel fellow in the Infrastructure and Platform Solutions Group (IPSG) and served as the IPSG chief technology officer.

Stephan is a prolific inventor, with over 50 patents to his name. Stephan received his PhD from University of Toulouse, France, and an MBA from University of Oregon.

Shiv Kaushik

Ampere Fellow

Shiv brings extensive experience in system software, instruction set architecture, SoC and platform architecture. Prior to joining Ampere, Shiv spent 24 years at Intel, where he served as the leader for Intel’s Windows OS Division, chief technology officer for the Software & Services Group and most recently as Intel’s chief Windows architect. He holds 52 patents in the area of system software and platform architecture.

Shiv received his PhD in Computer Science & Engineering from The Ohio State University, where he sits on the advisory board for the department of Computer Science.

Betsey Signol

Vice President of Global Marketing

Betsey is the vice president of global marketing. She has over 20 years of sales and marketing experience with a broad range of technology companies from startups to Fortune 500, in the US and Europe.
