Memcached

Open-source general-purpose distributed memory caching system.

Overview

Memcached is an open source, in-memory, key-value data store that is typically used for small chunks of arbitrary data (strings, objects) from results of database calls, API calls, or page rendering. As a popular component of Cloud Native digital services, Memcached is an application that benefits greatly from the Ampere Altra Cloud Native processing architecture. See the chart figures for an example of Ampere's industry leading performance for the following characteristics:

  • Performance: A throughput measurement in requests per second
  • Power Efficiency: Total throughput per Watt

Key Benefits

Ampere Altra Max processors deliver disruptive value for Memcached:

  • Predictable Performance: Up to 75% Higher Throughput under strict P99 Latency SLA
  • Power Efficiency: Nearly 62% less power consumed at comparable performance
  • Scalability: 41% fewer processors than x86 required to deliver 1 Billion Reqs/second

System configurations, components, software versions, and testing environments that differ from those used in Ampere’s tests may result in different measurements than those obtained by Ampere. The system configurations and components used in our testing are detailed here
