Predictable Performance

Ampere® Altra® offers up to 80 cores at up to 3.0 GHz speed with sustained turbo performance. Each core is single threaded by design with its own 64 KB L1 I-cache, 64 KB L1 D-cache, and a huge 1 MB L2 D-cache, delivering predictable performance 100% of the time by fully eliminating the noisy neighbor challenge within each core.

 

Coherent mesh-based interconnect topology provides efficient bandwidth with 32 distributed home nodes and directory-based snoop filters to enable seamless and connectivity between the cores.

 

Supporting eight, 2DPC, 72-bit DDR4-3200 channels, the Ampere® Altra® processor offers high bandwidth and memory capacity of up to 4 TB per socket.

High Scalability

With leading power/core, and multi-socket support, Ampere® Altra® provides the scalability to maximize the number of servers per rack, unparalleled in the industry.

 

With 128 lanes of PCIe Gen4 per socket and support for 192 PCIe Gen4 lanes in 2P configuration that are bifurcatable down to x2, Ampere® Altra® provides maximum flexibility to interface with off-chip devices including networking cards up to 100 GbE or more and storage / NVMe devices, making it well suited for big data applications.

 

Ampere® Altra® supports cache coherent connectivity to off -chip accelerators. 64 lanes out of 128 PCIe Gen 4 lanes support CCIX, that could be used for networking, storage, or accelerator connectivity.

Power Efficiency

Ampere® Altra® provides industry leading power efficiency/core, while packing 80 cores in a single socket and 160 cores in a dual socket, establishing new levels of power efficiency with scalability.

 

Ampere’s power optimized design, coupled with 7nm process technology, enables the Ampere® Altra™ processor to pack in more cores than any other data center class processor – all on a single die –  enabling datacenter infrastructure providers more cores per rack.

 

Ampere® Altra® processor’s advanced power management capabilities include Advanced Configuration Power Interface (ACPI) v6.2 support., Dynamic Frequency Scaling (DFS), on-die thermal monitoring, dynamic power estimation and Turbo mode support.

 

Mt. Jade Platform: Dual Socket Rack Server

Ampere’s Altra®  processor-based Mt. Jade  platform provides 160 processor cores, in a dual socket configuration, making it the platform with the highest core density in the industry.  Mt. Jade provides the performance and scalability for a variety of workloads including data analytics, database, web-tier and Android-in-the-Cloud (AIC).

Flexible I/Os

With 186 PCIe Gen 4 lanes in the system, Mt. Jade provides a multitude of I/O connectivity options for customization.

 

Each socket is also enabled to support CCIX connector for external accelerators to support applications including memory expansion and cache coherent acceleration.

Memory & Storage

Mt. Jade supports 2 DIMMs per channel DDR4 at 3200MHz: 16 DIMMs per socket, providing a total maximum memory capacity of 4TB per socket to address memory bound workloads.

 

It also supports two internal M.2 slots for NVME storage for ultra-fast read/writes and eliminating PCIe switch adapters.

Platform Management

Mt. Jade includes two BMC options: MegaRAC and OpenBMC. Mt. Jade also includes two BIOS options: Aptio and EDK2.

 

Key features include dynamic fan control, temperature monitoring, and TPM 2.0 for security. The platform includes two redundant power supplies providing the reliability required for datacenters. BMC includes support for IPMI & Redfish protocols for remote management.

Mt. Snow Platform: Single Socket Rack Server

The Mt. Snow platform provides a balance of performance and power that can scale up with ease. Available in a single socket configuration with the Ampere® Altra® processor, Mt. Snow provides 80 cores with predictable performance that is ideal for independent VMs and containers. Mt. Snow is well suited for a variety of workloads including edge computing, telco applications, web-tier, AIC and storage.

Ampere’s Altra® processor based single socket rack server provides high performance with industry leading power efficiency per core.

 

The versatile platform offers 96 lanes of PCIE Gen 4 for flexible I/O connectivity. Mt. Snow also supports CCIX interface to support applications including memory expansion and cache coherent acceleration.

Mt. Snow supports 16 DDR4 3200MHz DIMMS with a maximum memory capacity of 4TB.

 

It also supports OCP NIC 3.0 adapters to capitalize on the mechanical, thermal, manageability and security benefits.

 

In addition, Mt. Snow supports two internal M.2 NVME storage interface for ultra-fast read/writes and eliminating PCIe switch adapters.
