CloudFest 2022 was everything we were hoping it to be after taking a three-year hiatus from physical attendance. Held onsite again at Europa Park in Germany last month, it attracted over 6000 participants. I wanted to share some highlights from this premiere cloud event for our European customers and partners.
Sustainability in the Cloud
I kicked off the day with a keynote discussing how data centers must become more sustainable. By adopting Ampere Cloud Native Processors, one can achieve maximum performance while also reducing power and real estate. Sustainability was a key theme for the conference and one that Ampere has been intensely focused on for the past several years.
Here, I highlighted a few specific examples where our customers in the region can leverage our Cloud Native Processors today and substantially reduce their carbon and datacenter footprint. Green Data Centers must start with Green Processors.
Lukas Hertig from Plesk, the popular web hosting platform, joined me in the keynote and highlighted how they implemented their fastest product ramp ever by introducing Plesk at Oracle Cloud on Ampere Altra. Over 1000 instances were launched in just the first month, with users attracted to the efficiency and performance of the solution.
Cloud and Heat, a service provider that is pioneering innovations in the circular economy, can productively utilize heat generated as a byproduct of running a data center. Given that Ampere’s processors deliver more performance than legacy x86 processors, Cloud and Heat will be able to produce significantly higher performance for a similar heat profile.
Lefdal Mine Datacenter can leverage their world class efficiency and density to provide more than 2.4x more cores per rack with Ampere processors. This will effectively make their green data centers even more environmentally friendly.
European cloud provider Hetzner Online GmbH committed to deploy future cloud offerings with Ampere processors. Hetzner’s customers will now have access to a high performance, scalable and efficient solution.
And of course, our growing ecosystem is stronger than ever with more than 25 Ampere platforms to meet global demand for Cloud Native Processors.
Innovations in the Cloud Panels
Madhu Rangarajan, VP of products at Ampere discussed the importance of committing to a zero-waste datacenter during his panel discussion. “Cloud Service Providers don’t have to choose between performance and efficiency because Ampere chips have performance, efficiency, and density all at the same time.”
Sundar Gopalan, Sr Director of Product Marketing, joined the AI panel and highlighted that the compute performance delivered by Ampere Altra processors can enable server-based AI inferencing applications with minimal impedance.
Hands-On Experience
Our booth was buzzing with excitement over the 3 days with demos and information on AI, Android in the Cloud, CIDR, and Open Source Firmware. Attendees also swarmed around our static demos from Foxconn, Inspur & Supermicro.
In summary this event was a great validation for our strategy and roadmap. That’s a wrap for CloudFest ’22. We can’t wait to come back with even more exciting customer success stories, innovations and partners next year!
